NORTH MELBOURNE v COLLINGWOOD

Dane Swan – 110.5 over the last four. Bit of an off game last week, and does not typically fair well against North, with just 74 and 85 in their last two meetings.

Alan Didak – 84.5 over the last four. In average DT form right now, he did have 116 against the Roo’s earlier this year though.

Paul Medhurst – 102.5 over the last four. A bloody inspirational performance last week (pun intended!), Meddy doesn’t mind playing against North, with 126 earlier this year, and 85 against them in 2007.

Brent Harvey – 102.25 over the last four. Harvey has been consistent as always, and although I don’t like his inability to post big scores, you cannot argue with his success against the Magpies, 117 and 98 in their last two contests.

Die Hard Captain – no real stand outs here, and I am sure you can find a better captain elsewhere – but a little sleeper pick is Brent Harvey.

RICHMOND v ESSENDON

Matthew Richardson – 95.75 over the last four. Didn’t play last week due to a slight injury but should be back this weekend (just make sure before you make your captain). Richo should have a field day against the Bombers who cannot handle big forwards; he had 107 (130 and 97 last year) against them earlier this year

Brent Deledio – 92.5 over the last four. Had 106 against the Bombers earlier in the year, but is still a bit up and down for captain choice I think.

Brent Stanton – 117.5 over the last four. Fresh off his beast-like 174 last week Stants is in full DT force right now. He only managed 64 against the Tiges earlier this season, but he is playing a much different brand of footy right now.

Die Hard Captain – Matthew Richardson (if fit)

GEELONG v WESTERN BULLDOGS

Options are plenty in this massive contest;

Gary Ablett – unfortunately for those who have him in DT, he will miss this contest.

James Bartel – 114.75 over the last four. My gem last week, Bartel has been at his Brownlow best the last few weeks, and with Ablett not playing expect another big performance. He posted 117 and 98 against the Dogs last year.

Joel Corey – 106.25 over the last four. In form (close to Geelong’s best last week) and will also need to step up again this weekend, Joel managed 118 and 57 against the Dogs last year, but neither of those games were at Skilled where he loves to play (114 ave in last 3 games at Skilled).

Paul Chapman – 105.25 over the last four. Loves playing the Dogs (117 and 108 in their last two contests) and loves his home part (114, 97, 97). This equals a lot to love about Paul Chapman as captain.

Corey Enright – 115.25 over the last four. Only managed 92 and 91 against the Dogs in the last two meetings, but has just dominated the last two games DT wise. You pay a risk of not breaking the 100 with Corey, but the reward is 150+.

Daniel Cross – 99.5 over the last four. A huge 137 last time he played against the Cats.

Matthew Boyd – 109.25 over the last four. 85 and 97 in last two against the Cats.

Murphy, Gian, Aker – not in captain form right now.
Die Hard Captain – James Bartel (my captain for the week) – honestly you could nab any of the Cats boys above and feel confident about it, especially down at Skilled park. Boyd is the best option for the Dogs.

ST KILDA v HAWTHORN

Nick Riewoldt – 122.25 over the last four. Playing in dream style for DT coaches, Nick is usually in good NICK against the Hawks as well – posted 109 and 114 last season.

Lance Franklin – 76 over the last four. Finally reached the 100 mark against last week (first time in a month), I’d lay off Buddy and other Hawks for this round.

Die Hard Captain – Nick Riewoldt

BRISBANE v WEST COAST

Dean Cox – 118.25 over the last four. Coxy is one of the only ones to hold his head high for the Eagles right now, had a massive 121 against Brisbane in round 1.

Andrew Embley – 100 over the last four. Only 51 against the Lions earlier, really if you are making Embley your captain you are fucking nuts!

Johnathan Brown – 100 over the last four. Has been consistently racking up 100 odd despite being a big down in form (and carrying a nagging injury), expect him to slot through some easy ones against the Eagles – kicked 6 straight against them in a loss earlier this season, imagine what he will do this weekend.

Luke Power – 107.25 over the last four. Dipped a tad last weekend, Power managed 89 against the Eagles this season. A decent captain choice given the fact Brisbane should win by 200 goals.

Simon Black – 77.25 over the last four. Not in captain form at the moment.

Die Hard Captain – Dean Cox (so hard to pass up given the way he racks up points – an easy 30 just from hit outs alone – but if you were to go JB or Power I wouldn’t be mad at you).

CARLTON v SYDNEY

Murphy stung me last week. I am not really rating any Blue for captain material at this point (what Judd does just doesn’t translate to DT these days, if it did he’d be a captain each week), especially against the Swans. And you know my thoughts on Sydney players as DT captains.

Die Hard Captain – forget this game.

FREMANTLE v MELBOURNE

Matthew Pavlich – 105 over the last four. Pav was a tad quiet last week as his side got rocked by the Cattery; this week should be a different contest against the Dees. He posted a big 118 against them earlier in the year.

Cameron Bruce – 117.25 over the last four. Bruce is in top DT form and helping to lift an admirable Demons side who are still trying to win games. He had a massive 131 against Freo earlier in the year.

Die Hard Captain – even with their lowly ladder positions there are surprisingly a couple of good captain options in this game, I’d go with Cameron Bruce (but Pav is another solid choice).

PORT ADELAIDE v ADELAIDE

Kane Cornes – 92.25 over the last four. Posted 105 in the first derby clash this season – Kane is still a bit up and down at the moment.

Chad Cornes – stay away from him probably for the rest of the season.

Scott Thompson – 96.75 over the last four. Like the Cornes boys Thomo is in the midst of a very up and down spell, never a good recipe for captain selection. He did post 100 against Port earlier in the year.

Tyson Edwards – 110.5 over the last four. Edwards has been on song for around the last 8 weeks without getting that much attention. He slaughtered Port in their first clash with 119.

Die Hard Captain – Tyson Edwards
