AFL Finals Week 2 Tipping Preview
September 12, 2008 by Stewart Brown
The AFL finals reaches its second week where its either win or go home for the four teams in action.
Lets take a look at the DieHard Footy picks for the two big games:
($1.65) Western Bulldogs v Sydney ($2.20)
SB’s Tip: Western Bulldogs
SB’s Line: Take the -6.5 Western Bulldogs
The Western Bulldogs and Sydney kick off Week 2 of the Finals with a big clash at the MCG on Friday night. The Bulldogs are coming off a 51 point flogging at the hands of Hawthorn and will be hoping not to repeat what West Coast did last year and be knocked out in straight sets. The Swans come into this on the back of a 35 point win over North Melbourne in an Elimination Final last week. The Bulldogs have already defeated the Swans twice this season so are sure to go into this contest with some degree of confidence.
The Bulldogs go into this match making just the one change where Farren Ray makes way for Steven Tiller. A few other Bulldog players can count themselves very lucky after their insipid performances last week. The Swans head to the MCG with an unchanged lineup although there is a query over the fitness of Luke Ablett.
This looks a very tough to game to decide the outcome of. The Bulldogs have been down on form the past month and the Swans are always a dangerous commodity come Finals time. If the forecast rain arrives in Melbourne on Friday night then this should play into the hands of the Swans. However, if the current dry conditions prevail then the Dogs should have too much class and pace for the Swans and the fact that they have already beaten them twice this season should give them the added confidence they need to get them over the line. I like the Dogs in a tight one.
