Barry Hall Set for a Quick Return from Suspension
Well it looks as if Barry Hall might return from his inhouse suspension sooner than expected, as soon as this week even:
EXILED Sydney full-forward Barry Hall may return to the side as soon as this week following injuries to key players in the spirited win over Carlton yesterday.
…
Roos said it was still early to make a judgement on Hall’s return but it was a possibility he could come back for the Adelaide game at the SCG on Saturday night.
“He will return when he is cleared to play (by) both (psychologist) Grant (Brecht) and myself, and hopefully that is not too far away. Possibly (this week), but I don’t know. I haven’t really put a time frame on it.”
When the incident with Wakelin occurred I showed no remorse for my thoughts on Hall, and when Sydney took it upon themselves to suspend him I agreed with the move (although being a bit weary of their motivations). Now if they reinstate him on the basis of the clubs injury troubles it really takes away all of the suspensions impact in the first place. The fact is 2 weeks was never going to be enough to fix Halls anger issues and if the club was to stick to their “no dickhead policy” then the issue of injuries would not play apart.
On the other hand, Sydney is a very shrewd football club. They show incredible smarts in “playing the game” both on and off the field, and will not hesitate to manipulate or stretch the rules in their favour. By suspending Hall themselves it certainly puts them in the good graces of the AFL, which quite possibly was the ploy all along. In reality they only lost Hall for the Carlton game (as the AFL suspended him for the week before), but they earnt the brownie points for that move, and now with the dust settled can probably bring him back in with little fanfare.
The message, as I always say, is; I hate Sydney.

Oops, I did mean aquarium, excuse us for the wrong spelling.
What would the game be like without the charismatic forwards, such as Plugger, Dunstall, Ablett, Hall, Lynch just to name a few, there would be no media without them.
I do remember Lynch taking a few swings at Darryl Wakelin (what a spectacle it would have been, had he connected), as well as Plugger throwing Shane over his shoulder, ever ocurred to you that the guys might just be a couple of proffesional “nigglers”
And Heffernan, how many languages is it exactly, that you speak, don’t worry I already know.
Kristian - I think the main point of the article is the way Sydney conduct themselves from a PR point of view to take the heat out of any explosive media situations - which they do very well mind you.
And I speak English with a bare lick of Japanese
To Tristan Heffernan
Ok, point taken, but I do miss the “old” forwards (no matter which team they play’ed for. Matthew Lloyd is about the only one left, but I don’t think that they play him right, he is after all a FORWARD (someone that marks and goals. Also Fevola certainly has got the potential, but again i also think he’s being niggled, both by the opposition players and also the media.
By the way, looked at youtube (hate to admit it), but there is a pretty good flick with a punch from Staker, straight to Adam Schneider’s face (when he still played for Sydney, have a look at it, and you can’t help thinking that Staker maybe had it coming (there,s always someone who is bigger than yourself). Anyway, guess I am sidetracking a bit.
Cheers
