Dean Solomon Rubbed Out for 8 Weeks
Dean Solomon’s 2008 season is over after recieving an 8 game suspension from the AFL tribunal tonight for striking Cat Cameron Ling in Saturday’s loss to Geelong.
THE AFL Tribunal tonight suspended Fremantle utility Dean Solomon for eight matches, meaning he will not play again this year.
It is the biggest single tribunal penalty since Carlton midfielder Greg Williams received nine matches for interfering with field umpire Andrew Coates early in the 1997 season.
It is the biggest single tribunal penalty since Carlton midfielder Greg Williams received nine matches for interfering with field umpire Andrew Coates early in the 1997 season.
Solomon had pleaded guilty to striking Geelong midfielder Cameron Ling with his elbow in the first term of Saturday’s spiteful game at Skilled Stadium.
The crude hit left Ling with a depressed fracture of the cheekbone that required surgery.
The three-man tribunal jury took more than a quarter of an hour to rule that Solomon would receive 850 demerit points.
To make matters worse for Solomon he is out of contract at the end of this year and it is unsure whether or not Fremantle will offer him a new deal. One would think that Solomon’s career may be in jepordy as you would expect Fremantle would have a clean out of their list at seasons end and look towards a youth policy.
Fremantle are seeking legal advice and may consider appealing the suspension.
What do you think of the penalty? Do you think Solomon will be playing AFL Football next year? Leave us with your thoughts

Sigh. How many times must I hear “more than Hall?”
There’s a bloody good reason for this. Soloman was given 6 weeks, but due to a 30% loading due to a bad record, he is out for 8.
Whereas Hall was given 10, reduced to 7 for a good record.
So technically Hall was given more, but due to Soloman being a dumbarse, he received more.

More then Hall???? What in the world is going on?
