DHF Dream Team Captains – Round 13

June 24, 2009 by Jesse Penfold

B..I..T..  After a one week break on the captains thanks to the split round (probably needed it more than the players, been seeing DT scores in my sleep of late).  It is tough remembering back to my round 12 captains, but let’s just take a quick look at how things panned out:

Gary Ablett (76 scored, 116.5 predicted)
Dane Swan (127 scored, 115.9 predicted)
Leigh Montagna (137 scored, 114.2 predicted)
Lenny Hayes (135 scored, 112.7 predicted)

All in all some solid results apart from ol Gaz.  But to be honest I am always putting stabbing my GABLETT voodoo doll with a knife through the ankles, hammies and acl’s because he isn’t in my squad…so read it and weep suckers!

The DHF Score Predictor average has plummeted to 114.5 thanks to GABLETT
Meanwhile my personal average has gone up to 118.7 thanks to my new man Montagna!
This has me narrowly losing the GABLETT test as Gaz is averaging 119.5.

Let’s hit round 13′s games:

Essendon vs Carlton (MCG)

Essendon
Brent Stanton 92 90 106 99 96.8
  Jason Winderlich 103 67 97 97 90.8
Carlton
Bryce Gibbs 86 67 97 105 88.7
  Marc Murphy 103 96 104 104 101.7
  Chris Judd 87 96 116 98 99.2

A blockbuster this Friday night, full house at the G, and finally a game between these two sides that really means something when looking towards the finals.  Gibbs form has been very down over the last few weeks so I’d lay off him.  Look for Judd to step up this round, he came to the Blues for these type of Home and Away matches, and with Carlton sniffing a possible top four spot you can bet Juddy will top the 100 point mark.

Collingwood vs Fremantle (MCG)

  Alan Didak 116 74 93 98 95.2
Fremantle
Matthew Pavlich 96 109 105 95 101.3

Dane Swan has clearly been the premo pickup of the season this year.  Not really touching the $500k mark to start like some of his counter parts (Gaz/Bartel) and averaging a league best 120 he is in career best form, and should be a bigger lock as captain than the GABLETT if you are lucky enough to have both.

Another great pickup for those who had the foresight to trade him in over the last two weeks is Didak who is back in more than just full force.  Featuring a double ended dildo attack, that is, a ton of touches over the ground as well as being one of the best offensive weapons in the game, you can expect his gigantic scores to keep rolling in.

Adelaide vs Sydney (AAMI)

Three Sydney players on the Captain short list??  What the…?  I know what you are thinking, I’ve been drinking and internetting again.  With maybe some exotic mushrooms mixed in.  Well not tonight, really I just wanted to put those three in to say NO CHANCE I WOULD PICK ANY OF THEM AS CAPTAIN!!!  But I am sure this will be an exciting game though… pfft

West Coast vs Hawthorn (Subiaco)

The Big Cox might be out, supposedly, again.  But if he isn’t you can expect him to go to town on the bag of arse the Hawks are serving up in the ruck at the moment.  Actually if Coxy doesn’t play it might not be a bad idea to lock in big Naitanui as you captain this week.  Oh yeah Naitanui, did I mention he is playing in this game?  NAAAAAAAAAAITANUIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII!!!

This one is just loaded.  Evey time the Cats play this occurs, funny that.  The GABLETT wasn’t himself last week and there are some rumours flying about that he is avoiding kicking the thing to save his groin, which is probably smart if you are a Cats fan and concerned about Gaz’s fitness as the season goes on.  If you are DT coach you are tearing your hair out, especially when he isn’t getting those little handballs back for a nice cheap 1-2.  That said after a down game the GABLETT usually comes back very hard, and if you don’t want to chance that there are still about 1232495 players on the Cats who you can expect 100 points from week to week.

North Melbourne vs Western Bulldogs (MCG)

I’d stay away from this one, but remember to keep an eye on Cross who might be starting to find his DT feet this year.

In Geelong like fashion the Saints bring a loaded captain potential game, with or without help from their opponents, who in this case STINK.  My main man Montagna deserves as much pimping as he can get, 129 over his last four, 117 on the season, and feels right at home in the confines of Etihad.  Sure he hasn’t dominated the Tiges in recent matches, but this year is a new year.  All in all Roo and Hayes are both great options too.

DHF Top 4 Captains for Round 13 (brought to you from by the new revolutionary Scoring Predictor):

Dane Swan 126.5
Leigh Montagna 114.3
Joel Corey 114.3
Gary Ablett 113.9

My personal captain, sticking with the MON- you cant – TAG me…lock and load!

What are everyones choices this week?

  1. moiecoute says:

    Montagna or the Voldt here

  2. RJ says:

Sticking with Gaz, hoping for a big bounce back!

  3. Joel Corey cops my kiss of death this week! Oh to have a captain score 3 figures, could this be the week!

  4. WOOOO just stay off my players with you captain curse TH

  5. Joey says:

Put it this way, I was going with Cox…but now FUCK. Mitchell or Roo?

  6. Gazza to bounce back for me.

  7. I have Roo Joey and seeing I didn’t make him captain you could prob expect him to go off for at least a 140.

I thought he just gets a bit lazy against teams the Saints flog and he’ll be hanging back in the goal square rather than running loose up around the wing racking up marks at will.
