DHF Dream Team Review – Round 8
May 18, 2009 by Jesse Penfold
Very tough times this week for most coaches. The highest score of the round was just 2,275 and in short, if you cracked the 2k mark you were rocketing up the rankings. Pulling on last weeks theme, the injuries continued to rack up and those who aren’t getting the dreaded goose egg at this point are few and far between.
This weeks big ticket items:
The Budwood’s gut has been the talk of Melbourne this last week, but what about this… Franklin has kicked 9 goals over the last two weeks, and has not cracked 80 DT points in either match. This has to be some kind of record? That said he has is now hitting the point where his BE is a lowly 83, and at just $312k is a great upgrade price for a rookie or even side move for an injured player. If you can squeeze him in with just one trade you are golden, there is definitely a feeling that he is itching towards a 9 goal explosion, all he needs to do is start sticking some overhead marks, which should come with improved play from the Hawks through the ground.
For those who picked up the bargain priced veterans who are now finding form, I doubt you can wipe the smile off your face. Sam Mitchell ($425k, BE 82) (a DHF recommendation 2 weeks back), Lenny Hayes ($440k, BE 55) and Matty Pavlich ($393k, BE 59) have really hit their straps just demolishing all comers this week, each posting north of 140. Although their prices have all risen, there is still definitely some value if you are yet to jump on, Lenny may even start to push moneybags Bartel if he can continue at this rate.
Injuries, GABLETT (maybe back this week?), Higgins (1 week away), Chapman (should be back this week), Beams (played on the weekend, although might as well not have), Hodge (out forever), Cousins (broken hand on the weekend), Skippy (ready to go, likely to play VFL first), Ziebell (should be back this week), Hartlett (played on the weekend), Kane Cornes (suited up, did nothing), Richo (we know), Harvey (we know) blah blah blah check the injury report when it comes up. Basically the zero’s are piling up like people at a IKEA giveaway in India.
That is it for now, but I will be back throughout the week to deal with the big trade talks of the week, including the Steele Sidebottom and Stephen Hill teasers, and a key tip for upgrading to premiums.
