DHF Dream Team Review - Split Round

June 23, 2009 by Jesse Penfold

And after what feels like 10 long years… the split round is over.  Now it isn’t a surprise if you are struggling to remember how this round began, or if where in the world your shit score came from.  Luckily DHF is here to jog what you may have blocked out.

Firstly, find out what the split round taught TH here.

Now let’s hit the big ticket items for round 12…

Keep those trades in hand.  Once again coaches will need to keep an eye on Big Cox fitness as he continues his record breaking stretch of being placed under an injury cloud despite still playing that weekend.  This week seems to be raising more concern than others, although the WA-Today will report anything, but Woosh has listed the big man as 50/50.  Other key names that have struck out include Scott Pendles who is lucky to still have a knee attatched and Jack Ziebell who did snap the leg.  Check out the full injury list here.

To the bloke killing everyone who already has a team with a premium backline structure.  Yes, Greg Broughton, a late starter this year, but is now disrupting many DT matchups as those who are still fumbling around up back playing the rooks reaped the rewards of Brought’s massive 122.  Especially given the backline nightmare that saw Fisher (55), Mackie (57), Grimes (55), Geary (16…how is this actually even possible?) and co.  But no one will be complaining about his possible emerging keeper status or the bags of loot he is brining home (up $55k this week to 237k, and an extremely juicy BE of -11).

Meanwhile other rookies battling to avoid the peak, Taylor Walker (his 70 didn’t bring down the BE 71 too much), Beau Muston’s dream start is officially in the bin as he picked up a tagging role en route to a 52 (BE 48), for those who took the short money on Tom Swift there was no magical third game score as he only managed 35 and like most young Eagles is getting heavily managed in these early games (BE 2), the Steele Sidebottom continues to slowly increase after another consistent 59 (BE 36) and in similar fashion albeit on another level, everyones big money maker Daniel Rich continues his rise to a never ending peak with another consistent 74 ($311k), but with a  BE of 86 has he finally reached the limit?  Or is he already the rookie keeper of 2009… all in all not a bad sixth mid feilder.

Upgrade watch… Never too late for these, although they are no longer quite premium brews in a goon bag casing, you can still jump on now before things get out of hand… Alan Didak ($377k, BE 16, do it as quick as possible, finally injury free and posted 141 and 127 over his last two), Kane Cornes ($390k, BE 52, like Didak the fitness is there and it is all heading up with a 130 and 112 over the last two weeks), Daniel Cross ($345k, BE 67, still a little risky with some of the scores he has posted this year, but you know he will be putting in till the season ends as the Dogs attempt to steal the flag), Scott Thompson ($407k, BE 79, price is really starting to rise now, get in fast as his last 3 scores are over 100).

Finally Buddy…  What do you do here, each week I have been waiting for this to be the round he will finally break out of the cob webs and smash a gigantic score he seemed to make without breaking a sweat last week.  But each week things just keep getting worse.  As I learned from Gordon Gecko, you don’t get anywhere buying high and sell low, though in this case I am not sure how long I can sit on this disasters that BudWood is having (his price is down to $284k), it is almost time to consider giving him a run on my bench for a few weeks to try and teach him a lesson.
