Heath Shaw Lied, Didak Was Car Passenger, Collingwood To Review Sanction

In a bizarre update to the huge story this morning regarding Heath Shaw’s drink driving incident, it has now been revealed that Heath Shaw and Alan Didak lied to their club, and Didak was in fact the unnamed passenger in the car in last night’s accident.

This has been revealed after this afternoon’s press conference - which you can catch over at Collingwood TV if you’d like to see it for yourself.

Shaw originally denied Didak was in the car, but claimed to have rung him after the incident.

The Collingwood Football Club have now released another statement regarding these new revelations:

Since Monday’s press conference, the Collingwood Football Club has established that Alan Didak was in fact a passenger in Heath Shaw’s car on Sunday night.

The sanction imposed on Heath by the club on Monday was a result of information stated by both Heath and Alan after being repeatedly questioned about the incident.

Given the club has now found their information to be false, it strikes at the principles of honesty and integrity that the Collingwood Football Club is built on.

For this reason, the sanction imposed today will be immediately reviewed by the club, and media will be notified of a press conference to be held on Tuesday.

Incredible news - the question is now - is this worthy of a suspension? I really do not envy Eddie McGuire’s position right now - let alone Shaw and Didak.

[…] UPDATE: Further investigation has led to the discovery that Alan Didak was the unnamed passenger - get the latest update here […]

Heath Shaw was crap in my dream team lately……..maybe that is why!

Such a dumb thing to lie about, and to lie to their captain and teammates as well as to Malthouse and Angry Eddie is just so, so dumb. Successful football teams are to some extent built on trust- witness what happened to Wayne Carey.

Didak being involved is a particularly agonising thing for the Pies. I don’t think Heath Shaw is actually that important to them, they’ve won games this year when he’s been tagged into insignificance and other people have had to do the rebounding. Didak, on the other hand, is the most consistent and skilled player they have. If they drop him they are seriously damaging their chances at making the 8. If they keep him, will it destroy team discipline? I think it would.

I suspect they’re best off dropping them both for the rest of the H&A season, missing the finals and shopping Didak. They can probably keep Heater on the basis that he did a dumb thing but is VEWY SOWWY and was only lying to try and cover up for Didak, I think that’s the truth anyway and the players will forgive him. But for the same reason they have to turf Didak, because now he’s getting other people into trouble.

Collingwood have caused this themselves. They have a history of not being hard enough on players. Even in recent times they have proven to be lenient. Didak, Tarrant, Morrison, Wellingham and as recently as yesterday with Shaw. It will be VERY interesting to see what happens. Oh and great work on Didak Mr President. Lets see if we can pin the Kennedy assassination on him now.

3pm press conference. I guess we will know then what they are going to do. I feel sorry for Scott Burns in this. He showed a bit of class yesterday and showed that he is sick of the behaviour and culture at that football club.

Lets hope that the AFL is not inconsistent with their dealing with their favourite love child Collingwood…

Shaw is over rated (by his famous name) and while Didak is a very good player. No player is more important than a club, the Eagles proved that by sacking Ben Cousins last year and Didak is no way in the same league as him (talent wise).

Maybe we will see the Demons and others continue to tank so they can try and pick him up in the pre-season draft.
