Jeff Farmer - Over & Out
Enigmatic Fremantle forward Jeff Farmer has once again fallen foul of the Match Review Panel after being suspended for 1 match for striking West Coast’s Mark Nicoski in yesterdays Western Derby….
Farmer was charged with a level two striking offence by the AFL’s match review panel for his undisciplined forearm hit on West Coast’s Mark Nicoski during the third quarter of the Dockers’ 33-point western derby win on Sunday.
The 31-year-old’s existing bad record of eight matches suspended within the past three years meant the offence, which drew 125 demerit points, was increased by 50 per cent to 187.5 points and a one-match ban, irrespective of whether he enters an early plea.
This suspension could not have come at a worse time for Farmer who is out of contract at the end of the season and is hoping that Fremantle will offer him a new deal. I would say that this will be the final straw for Farmer and Fremantle won’t offer him a new deal at seasons end. They have given him plenty of chances already and after an ordinary season for the club they should be looking to the future and at 31 Farmer would not be in their long term plans.
Do you think Jeff Farmer will be at Fremantle next year? If not, would any other clubs be willing to pick him up? Leave us with your thoughts.

who cares what the players want. If the club wants to win games and finals, he should go…
You cannot and will not be successful with dead wood like Farmer.
Its not about what the players want. But if he is in their bottom few players id be amazed. There is a lot that will go before Farmer. There have already been two players retire fromt he list and numerous others that cannot play.
Damo,
Farmer may well not be in their bottom few players at the moment but do you think he will still be on the list when Freo are next contending for a Premiership?
Wouldnt it be better to get rid of blokes like him now and get some games into a younger player who is likely to be around next time they contend.
Fair point regarding age. But will Mark Johnson, Dean Solomon etc .. There is only so many you can get rid of each year. None of these guys have trade value. They have had 2 retirements already and I have Farmer ahead of those two former Essendon players that were brought in as lovechilds of Mark Harvey. Heath Black is another. Josh Carr is another. Matthew Carr actually makes a third retiree.
So that is -
Bell (retired)
McManus (retired)
M Carr (retired)
Josh Carr (leaving ?)
Heath Black (retiring i think?)
Mark Johnson
Dean Solomon
They are also a chance to try and offload Hasleby who might still have a tiny bit of currency. They also have spastics on the list that they will persevere with due to being young. But with the above list I think Farmer is safe if he wants to be there.
The bigger question is - how will the little kid who thinks he’s the wiz on the Fox Sports ads cope if he goes???
Bell (retired)
McManus (retired)
M Carr (retired)
Josh Carr (flick)
Heath Black (retiring i think?)
Mark Johnson (flick)
Dean Solomon (keep)
Farmer (flick)
If you had to keep any you would keep Solomon as while he is dead wood he does have more green wood and team ability (in his little finger) than Farmer.
7 Changes is not too bad, the problem Freo have is that you have other idiots who should also go (Browne and Bradly etc) and then the fact that they suck at recruiting as there is no point in replacing drop kicks with drop kicks…

He will be at Freo next year. If not he is definitely headed for the scrap heap. The players want him to continue (If Michael Johnson is anything to go by) and he seems popular amongst the playing group. Besides, there is plenty others on the list that should be flicked before this spud of a human being.
