Lance “Buddy” Franklin Offered a Reprimand
June 16, 2008 by Tristan Heffernan
Hot off the press – Lance “Buddy” Frankin can accept a reprimand and escape suspension, however by doing so his Brownlow chances will be wiped…
Lance Franklin, Hawthorn, has been charged with a Level One engaging in rough conduct offence against Michael Doughty, Adelaide, during the second quarter of the Round 12 match between Hawthorn and Adelaide, played at AAMI Stadium on Saturday June 14, 2008.
In summary, he can accept a reprimand and 93.75 points towards his future record with an early plea.
The incident was assessed as negligent conduct (one point), low impact (one point) and high contact (two points). This is a total of four activation points, resulting in a classification of a Level One offence, drawing 125 demerit points and a one-match sanction. He has no existing good or bad record. An early plea reduces the penalty by 25 per cent to a reprimand and 93.75 points towards his future record.
Just like Sam Mitchell and Adam Goodes, you would think Buddy will take the reprimand to allow him to play this week against the Kangaroos, thus ending his Brownlow chances. Wonder how the guy who reportedly lumped 10g on him last week is feeling…
Reckon Buddy will take the reprimand? Leave us a comment with your thoughts!

surely he has to take it? we need him to beat the kangas this week, and no way is he going to beat gary jr in the chas brownlow. take it buddy and kick 12 this week u star
Agreed Hawkster. Can’t see anyway that it is worth the risk of missing actual games just to protect his Brownlow chances. Franklin has many more years for that.
