Malthouse and Buckley Reunited at Collingwood
July 28, 2009 by Stewart Brown
Mick Malthouse and Nathan Buckley have been reunited at Collingwood after the pair signed new contracts.
Buckley signed a new contract with the Pies which means he will be an Assistant Coach for the next two seasons and then take over as the Senior Coach for the following three seasons.
Malthouse signed a five year contract extension which will mean he will remain as Senior Coach for the next two seasons and then become the Director of Coaching for the remaining three.
The Director of Coaching Role will be a new one that will encompass things such as overseeing the coaching department and recruitment.
This announcement should put an end to a lot of the speculation about when or if Buckley would take over from Malthouse if there was no succession plan put in place.
What do you think of this announcement? Leave us with your thoughts.

Much to the disgust of a lot of Magpie haters out there, it seems the Pies can have their cake and eat it too!
Or choke on it.
It remains to be seen if this works out. Five year coaching plans have been on the nose of late, let alone 5 year coaching plans involving two of the bigger egos in the business.
interesting to watch this and surprisingly no one thought it would happen but it did…
