Stephen Browne Cleared by AFL Tribunal for Hit on Jason Porplyzia

August 5, 2008 by News

Stephen Browne has been cleared tonight by the AFL Tribunal for his rough conduct charge involving Jason Porplyzia.

Browne was facing a 4 week ban, but the charge was thrown out in only 2 minutes, leaving Browne available for this week’s clash with the Power.

The suspension was widely regarded as being a direct result of the injury Porplyzia suffered, rather than the severity of the incident itself. While Porplyzia’s injury was indeed a terrible result considering the courage and talent he has shown throughout the year, the verdict looks likely to be well accepted within the football community.

Darren Milburn’s challenge will be heard next by the Tribunal and Die Hard Footy will have the verdict as soon as it happens.
