Stephen Hill – 2008 AFL Draftee Profile
November 18, 2008 by Stewart Brown
Stephen Hill is a lean wingman from West Perth who had a great Under 18 Championships. Hill is expected to be a late 1st round or early 2nd round pick.
Height: 182cm
Weight: 72kg
Position: Winger/Midfielder
Club: West Perth
Who we think he may turn out like: Brett Peake
Who we hope he doesn’t turn out like: Jarrad Oakley-Nicholls
Over/Under on the number of times Robert Walls tell us he needs to spend time in the gym: 568.5 – Will be overkill
Hill has great endurance, very good pace, and a great work rate and is the sort of player that with time will fit nicely into an AFL side’s midfield rotation. He has shown the ability to break the lines and kick long with his lovely left foot kick which makes him a valuable commodity at any level. Not only does he have great skills with his left foot he is very good on the other side of his body as well.
Even though the majority of Hill’s work is done as an outside player he does possess the ability to win his own ball and does read the play well around the stoppages.
The area of Hill’s game that needs major attention is his strength. He is still quiet skinny and will need at least a couple of years in the gym to bulk up his frame before he is a permanent fixture at AFL level.
What are your thoughts on Stephen Hill and where he may end up? Do you think he has the body to make it at AFL level? Leave us with your thoughts.

Im sure Freo will pick him up as they like over rated skinny outside players (Peak, Headland etc).
btw is there much difference between Brett Peake & Jarrad Oakley-Nicholls? imo they are both as over rated as each other.
